Nomad Murphy Bed & Storage System - North/South/170

The Nomad North/South Bed keeps all the great features of the Nomad East/West Bed but with a giant 68"x83" sleeping platform. It has three distinct modes; Stow, Work, and Chill. You can choose to have the bed totally out of the way (Stow), use the bed as a desk/work surface (Work), or as a bed and hangout (Chill). In addition to having multiple configurations, we've developed the bed with lower cabinets, providing room to hold all the essentials. You can easily fit a 20-gallon water tank and a complete power system, with room for all your gear. The best part is the Nomad Bed System can be built in just a few hours in your garage! The Nomad System is made from high-quality laser cut and CNC-formed aluminum made right here in the US. We're bringing pro-grade quality to DIYers.

"IT'S LIKE, HALF YOUR BUILD DONE WITH ONE PRODUCT"

by: Jackson Philby

STOW MODE

The possibilities are endless in Stow Mode. The bed panels stow out of the way so you can store your bikes, motorcycles, skis, and climbing gear inside or use your van as a daily cargo hauler.

WORK MODE

We all know counter space is hard to come by in a 144 van. Not anymore. Work Mode gives you a 5-foot long by 23-inch wide work surface. It's perfect for all you nomads working on the road.

CHILL MODE

Once you fold the bed down, you'll have a 78-inch wide by 60-inch long bed/chill area. Pair this with our Nomad Flare Mattress for the ultimate relaxation and comfort for all your horizontal endeavors.

ROOM FOR
THE ESSENTIALS

STORAGE

SPACE FOR ALL THE GEAR

"More than a bed" is not just a saying we use. The top section uses slider doors to maximize efficiency in a tight space that you might not be able to access with standard flip-up style doors. The lower section uses compression latches on an aluminum door. Each side of the lower cabinets has about 120 gallons of storage capacity. For reference, that would be equivalent to holding 72-gallon jugs of milk on each side!

WATER

20 GALLON WATER TANK

The lower section of the driver and passenger cabinet can hold a 20-gallon water tank from Northwest Conversions. The shelf in the lower cabinet has precut holes to allow a passthrough for plumbing lines. Getting the correct side water tank is essential because they will only fit one way.

POWER

GOAL ZERO or ECOFLOW KITS

When designing the lower cabinets of the Nomad Bed, we knew we needed room for power systems. Thanks to the 13-inch deep x 16-inch high x 55-inch long shelf, there's plenty of room to build a traditional lithium-style power system. We've also designed a bracket to work directly with the Goal Zero X line (1500, 3000, 6000) of power systems that bolt directly to the cabinet shelf. More information on the bracket system is coming soon.

36" of clearance under bed panels

34" of clearance under crossbars

14" of clearance from the end of the cabinet to the van wall (handlebar room)

~36" galley/walkway between cabinets

MADE
FOR
BIKES

MTB

When we first envisioned the Nomad Bed, we knew the bed had to allow us to store bikes inside the van. We ride expensive mountain bikes, and we prefer they are safe and out of the elements inside our vans. So we got to work developing our ideal step-up. We designed the cargo boxes to stop short of the back wall, so you have plenty of room for the handlebars to protrude into that space. We also made the bed high enough off the floor to fit an XL 29er mountain bike with its front wheel off.

MOTO

The Nomad Bed has 3 feet of space between the cabinets. That means you can haul all types of motorcycles inside your van! We ride motocross bikes and always stop on the way home to get a bite to eat. It's nice to know they're safe inside the van instead of hanging off the back on a hitch carrier.

FAQ

What vans does the Nomad Bed System work with?

The Nomad Bed System is currently available for 2007+ 144" wheelbase Sprinter vans with Flarespace Flares installed. We will be expanding to 170" wheelbase Sprinters as well as Transit vans.

Can I buy the bed without the lower boxes?

No. The bed is designed into the lower boxes and uses them as support for the bed panels.

How does the bed mount to the van?

We provide vertical and horizontal slots on the back of the lower boxes that will align with the main structural support rib in the Sprinter van. We recommend using 3-4 rivnuts mounted directly to the body of the van.

Where is the Nomad Bed System made?

The Nomad Bed System is made right here in good old Colorado! We love supporting local craftsmen. Check out those welds when you get your bed!

Does it come with a mattress?

The Nomade Flare Mattress is sold separately. Select this option above.

How much does the whole system weigh?

The whole bed system weighs 250 lbs.

Can you drive in Work Mode?

You should not drive when the bed is in Work Mode. You can drive with the bed in Stow or Chill Mode.

Do I have to have Flarespace for the bed to work?

Currently yes. Don’t have flares? Give us a call we can set you up.
